Butlins Minehead West Lakes Village | Review

We stayed at Butlins Minehead over the Easter break in an absolutely gorgeous chalet in the West Lakes Village for a long weekend of fun and laughter.  We stayed in a ground floor three bedroom chalet with our own balcony overlooking the lake.

We were able to park right outside our chalet in the designated parking after checking in with our very own check in point, making the start of our break, smooth and fast! Built around lakes and landscape garden the chalets were built to honour the original Butlins chalets as opposed to the hotels and apartments that have since been built. And whilst the chalets are only a short walk (or even shorter land train ride) away from the entertainment, fairground, Slashworld and even the sandy waterfront they are also very peaceful and quiet. Butlins has truly managed to capture all of the best bits of Butlins whilst adding some peace and tranquillity of the outdoors as well creating a home from home for people to 'unplug from day-to-day life'.

The rooms themselves were clean and very beautifully furnished with comfortable furnishing and added extras. The master room was host to a fabulously comfortable bed, two bedside tables, an open wardrobe with shelving, a dressing table and drawers with a TV above. As well as this there is an en-suite bathroom with the master bedroom too.

The other two bedrooms were decorated in the same gorgeous colours and one room had the most fantastic bunk beds in with fabulous storage along one wall and under bed storage as well, the other bedroom had twin beds with the same open wardrobe and dressing table area.

This next bit will be a bit photo heavy as I'd like to truly show you how fabulous the main living area it, it's a large open plan space with a corner sofa (perfect for snuggling), table and chairs, kitchen area as well as TV etc and there is still so much space to be had!

The kitchen was stocked with everything you could possibly need to cook for yourselves as well as all the plates, bowls, cutlery, cups and glasses etc that you could need. You are provided with tea and coffee with the kettle and even complimentary dish washer tablets and a tea towel. Housekeeping came in each day and not only cleaned, but did the dishes and provided clean towels/bedding etc where needed. As a busy mum this was a huge bonus to me as it meant I could truly switch off from those duties and focus on having fun with my family.

The view from our chalet was absolutely beautiful and as were had our own balcony, we loved to sit out there and watch the world go by, there was lovely ducks that swam around and my children really enjoyed watching them. I imagine that in warmer summer months you would get even more use from the balcony as well. I did notice that not all of the chalets had balconies so if this was a selling point for you then I'd definitely enquire on booking.

The family bathroom had a shower over a bath, toilet, sink and...... A HEATED TOWEL RAIL!!! To some this may mean nothing but as we don't have one, it was amazing! I also would like to point out the gorgeous towel art that was left each day, this is definitely a cute bit of Butlins quirkiness that my children LOVE!

I also would like to mention the hallway (sounds strange I know) but it was huge and spacious and any family would probably be interested to know that it made the perfect place to leave the pushchair without having to fold it! And there was ample hanging space for everyones coats! Something else that I loved throughout this chalet was the gorgeous canvases hanging on the wall and the tasteful decor.

All in all our chalet was a complete and utter success and we loved it! We were so sad to leave and will miss our chalet as much as we miss Butlins as a resort, it really was a home from home and suited our family and needs fantastically.
